Dr. Horvath is an internationally recognized expert on addiction treatment and leads SMART Recovery,® the largest of the non-12-step mutual help groups, with over 1,500 meetings worldwide. He has been president of SMART Recovery® for 18 of its 20 years. Dr. Horvath is a past president (1990-91) of the Society of Addiction Psychology (Division 50 of the American Psychological Association), the world’s largest organization of addiction psychologists. He is a board-certified clinical psychologist and the founder of Practical Recovery, a self-empowering addiction recovery system in San Diego. He is also the author of Sex, Drugs, Gambling & Chocolate: A Workbook for Overcoming Addictions (2nd ed.).
