Dr. Kosten is the Director of Alcohol and Addiction Psychiatry at Baylor College of Medicine in Houston, Texas. He has spent more than 30 years developing cutting-edge vaccines and medications to help people with substance use disorders. Dr. Kosten serves as Vice-Chair, Psychiatry for Research, at Baylor College of Medicine and is Co-Director of the Dan L. Duncan Institute for Clinical and Translational Research. He is also the Jay H. Waggoner Chair of Psychiatry, Neuroscience, Pharmacology, and Immunology at Baylor College of Medicine.

In addition, Dr. Kosten works at the Michael E. DeBakey VA Medical Center in Houston. Dr. Kosten is a former Congressional Fellow, former Research Director of Veterans Affairs National Quality Evaluation Research Initiative in Substance Use Disorders, and Past President of the American Academy of Addiction Psychiatry and the College on Problems of Drug Dependence. He served previously as Professor & Chief of Psychiatry at Yale University and Veteran Affairs Connecticut. Dr. Kosten is Editor of American Journal on Addictions.
