Ms. Brown founded the nonprofit “Buddy’s Purpose” in memory of her son, Justin “Buddy” Pratt, who died from a heroin overdose at 26.  Buddy’s Purpose sponsors overdose awareness walks and other recovery-related events, and provides support for people struggling with addiction and their families.  The organization also trains individuals in the use of naloxone (Narcan), a lifesaving overdose prevention medication.
