Joni Rutter, Ph.D.
Director, Basic Neuroscience and Behavioral Research National Institute on Drug Abuse
Dr. Rutter is Director for the Division of Basic Neuroscience and Behavioral Research at the National Institute on Drug Abuse (NIDA). The Division’s primary goal is to support basic biomedical and behavioral research to address the public health problem of drug abuse and addiction. Dr. Rutter has extensive experience in the study of human genetics as it relates to vulnerabilities to drug abuse and addiction. She developed and maintains the NIDA Genetics Consortium, a group of more than 20 investigators who study addiction genetics.
